In addition to his work as a master carpenter in a carpenter's shop, he taught aspiring carpenters as a specialist teacher for 35 years. He passionately collected hand tools, machines and models of roofs and bridges. Werner Zellweger has also taken in literary witnesses from times gone by.

In 2013, under his direction, an exhibition entitled "Schauplatz Holzhandwerk" was created from his rich collection. This is located in the attic of the Senioren Bad Säntisblick in Waldstatt. Part of the roof truss, built around 1780 with hand-beaten beams, can be viewed.

Werner Zellweger has operated and presented his exhibition with great pleasure and expertise. Since 2015, he has been able to count on the help and support of Fredi Nef, also a skilled carpenter.

Unfortunately, Werner Zellweger passed away in December 2019.

Markus Gantenbein, a former student of Werner Zellweger, continues to run the exhibition with the help of Fredi Nef. As before, the doors are always open on the first Saturday of the month from 1:00- 4:00 pm. Markus Gantenbein or Fredi Nef are in the exhibition during the opening hours and try to answer any questions and give information.

With advance reservation, groups are also welcome at other times to view the tools from the forestry, sawmill, carpentry, woodturning, skiwagner and shingle maker. Guided tours are available for groups, and it is also possible to order lunch or dinner in advance to complement the tours directly via "Schauplatz Holzhandwerk".
