Le Fond de l’Air

In the shady passage behind the Kunsthaus Biel, moss covers the damp stones. The sun is just managing to reach a patch on the façade of the Espace Libre. A small green dot moves across this warm patch. An ant is carrying a piece of a leaf. A little above it, another one – no, two, three, a whole line of ants can be seen. And a little below that, another dot, slightly larger and striped yellow and black. A snail carries its shell in the same direction, along the façade up to the footbridge connecting the two buildings. And there, a lizard, a grasshopper and a spider. They too are on their way up to the open window, where a blackbird is already sitting and the line of ants disappears into the twilight of the interior. Strange noises can be heard from there, a murmur, a harp and a whisper.
